Dears Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I’m certainly very happy to be a part of your community. I’ve met many of you already just in the short time that I’ve been here and I thank you for your graciousness in welcoming me the way that you have, especially with putting together this huge Street fest in my honor at such a short notice; It was a great weekend to meet many of you at once.

Just a few things about myself. I grew up in Elberfeld along with my two brothers and two sisters. My home parish is St. John the Evangelist in Daylight. I attended Tecumseh High School then graduated Ivy Tech a couple years later with a degree in Industrial Maintenance. After working a couple years as a boilermaker and then as an Electrician, I began to discover the joy and the need to live as a man of God and for God. I began to see that its in the richness of our Catholic Faith that we have the most profound access to God. It wasn’t long before I began to discern God was calling me to be a Priest of Jesus Christ. I attended seminary at Bishop Brute College Seminary at Marian University then graduated from Saint Meinrad Seminary in 2012.

I know Fr. Eugene was here for a while and was indeed a great pastor. I feel blessed to be able to follow him. Thank you for welcoming me and I look forward to meeting all of you.

In Christ, Fr. Jeff Read
